True Concord's upcoming release features two Jocelyn Hagen works:

The first one, the title piece, Here I Am, grew out of a suggestion from conductor Eric Holtan: a work marking the centennial of the 19th Amendment and the suffrage movement.

From the press release, I learn that in performance Here I Am runs alongside live projections of 47 women, their words forming the text Hagen sets.

The other is The Notebooks of Leonardo da Vinci, a multimedia symphony that has had more than 50 outings since its 2019 premiere.

True Concord's track record makes this one easy to look forward to. Their Stephen Paulus album earned a GRAMMY nomination, and last year's Jake Runestad recording, also on Reference Recordings, picked up a second.

Soprano Susanna Phillips joins the ensemble here, recorded at Camelback Bible Church in Arizona under engineer John Polito and producer Peter Rutenberg.

I have heard it already, and can tell you in secret that this is one of the releases to really look forward to.

A full review coming to the Listening Room soon.
