J.S. Bach - Sonatas and Partitas

The six Sonatas and Partitas, titled in Bach's autograph manuscript "Sei Solo a Violino senza Basso accompagnato," represent both the technical and spiritual summit of violin literature. Completed around 1720 during the Köthen years, the cycle alternates three sonatas and three partitas across its span, and Renaud Capuçon brings to it a reading that is measured, considered, and unhurried. This is not a performance that reaches for drama at every turn.
